The Client
Ishveer Mahli is a self-taught VR artist, entrepreneur, and founder of New Prologue, an interactive care company working to create novel products across the wellness catalogue.
In collaboration with EC Studios, her goal was to formulate a vegan, cruelty-free, smoothing, and hydrating discolouration serum to help with hyperpigmentation in melanin-rich skin.
The Problem
After working at Deciem, Ishveer noticed a gap in the market for products that catered to melanated skin. Hyperpigmentation often occurs from a compromised skin barrier - where the use of harsh actives, UV damage, and other external aggressors trigger the transfer of melanosomes to upper layers. The result is unevenly pigmented skin. Melanin-rich skin is more prone to discolouration.
It was our priority to ensure the actives we included were safe to use on skin of color.
The Product
Our process was to research ingredients that had clinical trials on a wider range of skin tones. We partnered with an innovative ingredient supplier to utilize their new, first-of-its-kind anti-aging depigmentation active: Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate.
An 8 week clinical study was conducted on 35 participants using Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate (2%) where:
- Redness reduced in 2 weeks, and dark spots faded in 4 weeks
- 100% of participants noticed a more uniform skin tone
- 94% of participants noticed a reduction in the appearance of dark spotsWe use Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate at 3%, combined with the Mandelic Acid at 5%, and Cassia Angustifolia at 1%, making T3 a powerful multitasking serum that hydrates, exfoliates, and minimizes the appearance of inflammation and discoloration.
“In collaboration with EC Studios, a product development lab based in Toronto, we custom formulated the T3 Discoloration Serum from the ground up. From inception, our goal was to prevent and minimize dark spots, discolouration and hyperpigmentation.
